Study of adherence to topical anti-glaucoma therapy in rural India with exploration of adherence barriers

Anti-glaucoma medications form the first line of treatment in glaucoma management. However, effectiveness medical management for is dented by poor adherence to anti-glaucoma medications. There a need elucidate barriers and address them order increase effectivity therapy. This study an attempt estimating behavior along with understanding various adherence. cross-sectional, hospital based was conducted District Hospital Kupwara, Kashmir division, India over period 2 years from June 2020 2022. 303 consecutive patients who were consented included this study. Adherence data collected using self-reporting method visual analogue scale 8-item morisky scale. having Mean age 53.86 ± 8.04 ranging 35–70 yrs. On Visual Analogue Scale, 78 percent adherent while as 22 non-adherent. As per Morisky 9 showed low adherence, 17 had medium 74 high Study reported many especially forgetfulness, cost side effects. Non-adherence significant problem seen almost one-fourth our patients. Educating their caretakers must preventing morbidity associated economic drain.
